The AYF Western Region operates several Central Committees which focus their work on specific tasks and goals. Please read their descriptions and inquire within if you are interested in more information.
United Human Rights Council The United Human Rights Council (UHRC), by means of action on a grassroots level, works toward correcting the human rights violations of those governments who distort, deny, and delude their own history to disguise past and present genocides, massacres, and human rights violations. One of the primary goals of this council is to make sure that the Armenian cause is unified with other human rights issues around the world. To this end, events and meetings are organized with other human rights groups in order to achieve our goals. For information on the UHRC Central Council please contact: (626) 255-1870 or email AYF@AYFwest.org Hai Tad Central Council The Hai Tad Council's responsibility is to keep the AYF informed of all issue pertaining to the Armenian activism. These issues include the progression of the Armenian Genocide Resolution within Congress, regional and local issues. The council works closely with central offices of the Armenian National Committee. Aside from informing our membership and community about Hai Tad issues, the council is responsible for organizing events such as the annual protest. For information on the Hai Tad Central Council please contact: (626) 644-2017 or email AYF@AYFwest.org Alumni Association Council The primary goal of the AYF-WR Alumni Association is to foster a mutually beneficial relationship between the AYF and its Alumni. The council has a number responsibilities ranging from data collection of AYF-Alumni from the beginning years of AYF, to organizing events and building stronger ties between the alumni and AYF. For information on the Alumni Central Council please contact: (714) 743-5362 or email AYF@AYFwest.org Youth Corps Council The purpose of this central council is to foresee the program's mission, to strengthen ties between the homeland and Diasporan youth by providing an opportunity to experience the daily life in Armenia/Artsakh and to contribute through volunteer experience. This committee's responsibilities include but are not limited to creating and providing the proper structure for the program, ensuring efficient funds and promoting the program to all Armenian youth. For information on the Youth Corps Central Council please contact: (818) 207-6917, (818) 468-7794 or email AYF@AYFwest.org PR/MARKETING Council The purpose of this committee is to promote the brand and activities of the AYF to all, through the use of multiple media outlets, such as but not limited to, television (Horizon), newspapers (Asbarez), magazines (Haytoug), Hyevibes.com, and the use of pod-casting. In addition, the committee is responsible for sourcing and designing the material needed for campaigns thru the aforementioned forms of communication. It is printed quarterly and distributed free of charge. The Haytoug serves as a means to educate our communities and membership about issues pertaining to Armenian youth and Armenians in general. The Haytoug serves as a tool of outreach to non-members in order to enumerate on the activities and actions of the AYF. Rather than operating with a Council per se, the Haytoug has a list of staff writers. Any AYF member at any time may contribute an article or article ideas to Haytoug. For information on Haytoug Central Council please contact: (949) 331-5486 or email AYF@AYFwest.org Nidus Council In cooperation with the AYF Eastern Region, the Nidus Central Council was formed in 2007. This group was established by AYF members and Armenian college students earlier this year to further develop Armenia's medical field. The Nidus program will seek to connect Diasporan Armenians who study and have interest in the fields of medicine and public health, with an opportunity to directly aid our homeland. The eventual goal of the Council will be to develop and administer a health education curriculum for elementary and junior high school students in Armenia, Artsakh and Javakhk as part of an internship in Armenia. All those with a background in biology, medicine, public health, public administration or other interest should inquire. For information on Nidus Central Council please contact: (949) 331-5486 or email AYFNidus@gmail.com Educational Council The Educational Central Council is responsible for educating our ranks and community regarding various topics of interest to Armenian-Americans. Additionally, the central council works on creating a novice educational program for new AYF members. Projects the Educational Central Council works on include annual educational Seminar, Novice educational program, Badanee transfer program, oath ceremonies and periodic community educationals. For information on Educational Central Council please contact: (818) 207-6917 or email AYF@AYFwest.org Social/Fundraising Council The purpose of the Social/Fundraising Central Council is to generate funds through various social activities, and to promote and extend the Armenian culture through social forums. The Social/Fundraising committee's main projects annually include the AYF Barahantes and the May 28th Festival.
